The organization took a while to come together but finally with the help of some very dedicated people it is now ready to spring into action.
INSAF can be translated into English as “awareness” or “consciousness”. Ishak Abdul Kadir chose this name after his involvement in various missions with Mercy Malaysia; to Aceh (Indonesia) in January 2005, to Pulau Nias (Indonesia) in April of the same year, to Bagh, Pakistan in October 2005, and to Jogjakarta (Indonesia) in 2006.
Other members of the committee were also involved in various rescue operations during the tsunami crisis and other disasters which struck Asia in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Dr.Alvin (Aceh and Bagh, Pakistan) and Dr. Shawal (Aceh and Pulau Nias) were volunteers with Mercy Malaysia, while Dr. Ahmad and Mr. Zamani were independent volunteer workers in Aceh. Our vision is to strive, through voluntary action for a just world, where help is delivered with dignity, respect and concern for all without discrimination as to nationality, race, religion, class or political affiliations.
Our mission is to help improve the lives of vulnerable people the world over - people who are at risk because of war, natural disasters, socio-economic crisis or health emergencies.
Our additional aim is to promote humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness and health care in the communities most at risk.
